On The Eleventh Day of Linxmas...

On the eleventh day of Linxmas, my matchmaker said to me…put away the electronics!

Slow down, be present, and connect with loved ones. It is very important to stop the scrolling and living vicariously through others through social media. Designate a basket in which to store your devices after a certain hour each day and, especially when spending time with loved ones this holiday, make a point to toss all of them in the basket so you can connect from the heart and pay attention to one another. Cards Against Humanity, a good ‘ole fashioned game of Twister, Monopoly, or a game of Hearts or dice are all so fun!

On the tenth day of Linxmas, my matchmaker said to me…say yes to new opportunities!

Life is filled with glorious opportunities and excitement. When in doubt, always say yes to opportunities that are presented to you and be open to the endless possibilities. You never know what might be on the other side of saying yes to something new!

On the Ninth Day of Linxmas...

On the Ninth day of Linxmas, my matchmaker said to me… try out some Holiday Mocktails & Cocktails!

You don’t have to drink alcohol to get in the holiday spirit. In fact, there are some tremendously fun mocktails available for all sorts of taste buds and preferences. Ingredients such as cranberry juice, lemon juice, apple cider, cinnamon syrup, and ginger beer can seriously spice up any occasion and make a drink go from average to fabulous. You can garnish your drinks with cinnamon sticks, a rosemary sprig, sugar-coated cranberries, and Maraschino luxardo cherries. Serve your mocktail or cocktail in fun vintage glasses and put on some Michael Buble. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

On The Eighth Day of Linxmas...

On the eighth day of Linxmas, my matchmaker said to me…take care of yourself!

It’s so important to listen to your mind and body and not to feel bad about taking some necessary pampering time to chill out. Just because it’s freezing outside, don’t stop your workout routine. Step outside and get some brisk movement in, take a yoga class, go for a run, or do some jumping jacks in place.  Try to keep up with your gym routine and put in the hours weekly doing your weights or group classes. After, put your feet up and close your eyes with a 20 min. power nap, take a long bubble bath after your workday, pour a glass of wine and listen to some music by the fireplace, or do whatever else brings you a little joy and relaxation.

On the Seventh Day of Linxmas..

On the seventh day of Linxmas, my matchmaker said to me…Try Something New!

This fall when I was in Mexico at a Matchmakers’ conference, I totally stepped outside of my comfort zone and tried something new! I did an aerial trapeze and although I looked like a total buffoon and klutz, I was proud of myself for climbing the teetering-towered ladder to get to the platform, and for pushing myself off and swinging high in the sky some 25 feet above the ground. I was terrified, literally laughing and crying all at the same time. While I am not necessarily saying to go find a trapeze this Christmas holiday, I think it’s awesome to try new things, push ourselves out of the comfort zone to experience something new, and see how we feel afterwards. I felt a sense of slight euphoria and that I wanted “more” of that same feeling. What else could I do to push myself out of my typical routine? It’s great for self-growth and a cool story for when you’re on your dates to talk about ways you’ve stepped outside your comfort zone and what you learned from those experiences.
