On The Sixth Day of Linxmas...

By Amy Andersen, Founder and CEO of Linx Dating

On the sixth day of Linxmas, my matchmaker said to me…go to a Christmas market!

Christmas markets date back to the 15th century in Europe and originated in Germany. Christmas markets, also known as Christkindlmarkt (literally: Christ Child Market), are now internationally known in many countries, including the United States, where attractions at the markets normally include a nativity scene, toasted almonds and warm roasted chestnuts, traditional Christmas gingerbread, hot mulled wine, Stollen bread, beautiful garlands to purchase, and little trinkets and gifts.

On The Fourth Day of Linxmas..

On the fourth day of Linxmas, my matchmaker said to me…Connect with your inner child.

A great way to connect with your inner child, friends, roommates, your children, or yourself is to get into the kitchen this holiday season and bake some fun holiday-themed treats. It’s not about perfection, it’s about getting that cookie dough globbed on your fingers and licking the goodness off and making a little bit of a mess with colorful cookie sprinkles.

On The Third Day of Linxmas...

On the third day of Linxmas, my matchmaker said to me…Flirt!

Silicon Valley, the land of techies, often means over-analysis, stiff body language, talk of work 24/7, and not being in the present moment. Flirting is about leaning into a playful side and not being so overly cautious about “what to do next”, “how to act”, or “what to say.”

There is a certain “je ne sais quoi” appeal to someone who flirts. Have you ever seen a young or frankly old French couple sitting in a café over afternoon coffees or evening drinks? They are laughing, leaning into the conversation (literally and figuratively with inviting body language), there is a ‘carefreeness,’ a sensuality and, back to day one, a confidence too about not really giving a f*ck about things. They are who they are and they are proud of that, and their ability to flirt and be light like a feather is what makes this sort of person appealing.  Be less robotic this holiday season and remember to have fun!

On The Second Day of Linxmas...

On the second day of Linxmas, my matchmaker said to me… understand your partner and your love languages!

You are not unworthy to receive love. What is important is to understand your love language. Each and every one of us has a unique language for expressing and experiencing love.

These are broken down into 5 categories which include:

  1. Physical Touch

  2. Words of Affirmations

  3. Quality Time

  4. Acts of Service

  5. Receiving Gifts.

Once you understand your language, you can teach your partner how to love you. It helps you communicate what is important to meet your emotional needs. After you learn your primary love language, learn your partner’s too! Understanding your partner’s love language will help you recognize when they are giving you love in their own, unique way.
